"“You just wait and see what God is going to do for my family"
Nearly all of her family'’s possessions, including her home and her vehicle, were destroyed.
Stephanie is a 37-year-old single mother with three teenage children. Twelve years ago, she suffered the loss of her husband from cancer. She not only lost her best friend, but she was left, at age 25, to raise three children, all under the age of five. In order to support her young family, Stephanie opened a daycare in her home. This provided her with a means of income and the ability to stay home with her children. Three months ago, on May 22nd her home and primary source of income were taken from her by an F5 tornado ripping through her community of Joplin MO.
We are a group of individuals from West Central Illinois that have been touched by a young family’s story of survival. God led our hearts to Joplin MO after the deadly tornado ravaged the community on May 22nd. In our efforts to assist a family in need, a relationship emerged with the Dalton family. Stephanie, Hannah, Josiah, and Shekinah survived the storm, but lost their home and most of their possessions. In losing her home, Stephanie also lost her primary source of income--—her in-home daycare. Our mission is to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. Partnering with the citizens of West Central Illinois, we are committed to rebuilding the family’s home and business. The estimated cost of materials for Stephanie’s 1800 square foot home is $64 per square foot ($115,200 total). Our goal is to raise $150,000 to cover all of the other costs associated with the construction of the home . Some individuals are financially able of contribute ten or even twenty square feet. For others, a one-time donation of $64, representing one square foot, is a more feasible option. Regardless of how many square feet you are able to give, your contribution is greatly appreciated. We ask that you pray for God’s guidance and wisdom while making your contribution.

A big white Ford pickup followed me home from Joplin today. Looking ahead at the road towards Illinois, I could see things getting back to normal in our sleepy little Midwestern community. No more six-hour drives or long nights listening to a Dewalt radio on Abby Lane. Life as I know it could be seen on the road ahead; but in my rear view mirror, the grill with the blue oval and Illinois plates reminded me of where I’'d been.
